Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a small selection of questions that our dedicated Wedding Team often answer.

Where can we get married in Ireland?
We can arrange legally binding church weddings or civil ceremonies. To be legally binding, the ceremony must take place indoors at an approved location. All our venues have been previously approved (unless stated otherwise).

We can arrange beautiful outdoor blessings, renewal of vows and symbolic ceremonies. While these are not legally binding they are very romantic.

Our traditional hand fasting ceremonies are very popular. This is the ancient Celtic ceremony where the bride and grooms hands are symbolically bound together – this is where the term ‘to tie the knot’ originated!

It is possible to have an indoor legally binding ceremony and then go to a beauty spot for your hand fasting ceremony.

Is there a residency requirement to get married in Ireland?
No. you do need submit paperwork at least 3 months previously and you will need to meet with the registrar in person 5 days before the ceremony. We can help you with all this step by step of the way.

A lot of couples choose to look after the legal side of things in their hometown before flying to Ireland for their wedding ceremony with their guests. This allows us to be more creative with your wedding ceremony and location and your guests don’t need to know a thing!

How much will it cost?
Most of the Wedding Planner weddings in Ireland, range from €2,500 to €10,000 and our Wedding Team will oversee all the arrangements.

Our All Inclusive Weddings in Ireland have been exclusively designed with two types of couples in mind; Irish couples looking for stress free wedding planning and for couples from abroad wishing to have a mystical, romantic, Irish wedding. Some of our weddings in Ireland cater for 100+ guests at 4 star venues and still come in at less than €10,000 euro including all the essential services such as photographer, flowers, cake, music, celebrant, etc. All the service providers we use are professional and are carefully selected because of the great service they offer. Obviously, if you have fewer guests the cost is less! Also if you do not require all the services in the all inclusive weddings in Ireland packages there will be a discount.

Who arranges the wedding?
The Wedding Planner is managed by a professional wedding planning team with over 10 years experience in weddings in Ireland and weddings abroad. During your wedding planning you will have a point of contact who will assist you with your wedding plans.

Is the marriage legally recognised?
Yes, the wedding will be registered in Ireland. If you don’t live permanently in Ireland, check with your local authorities, but generally once you abide by the legal marriage requirements of the country you marry in, it is recognised else where.

What legal requirements are there?
In general the couple must be over 18 years of age. You will need original copies of Birth Certificates and documentation regarding your previous marriage if you are widowed or divorced. Full details will be supplied at the time of booking.

For Catholic weddings you will need your baptismal certificate, confirmation certificate and a letter from your parish priest. Again we can assist you through this.

For weddings in Ireland, you will need to submit your paperwork at least 3 months in advance to the registrar and meet with the registrar to finalise paperwork at least 5 days before the ceremony.

Can the wedding date be changed after booking?
Yes once we are told well in advance and we will try to change the date. If we are able to, there is a small charge for each wedding date change to cover administration costs.

Cancelling or changing the holiday, cancellation or amendment charges will apply.

Can we invite guests to the wedding?
Of course! Simply let us know how many guests and we can book their accommodation and assist them to ensure they have a great time.

How do we transport their wedding outfits on the flights?
We recommend wedding outfits should be packed in a hard suitcase and they will be placed in the hold of the aircraft. You may wish to contact their airline for more information. Generally, there is no extra baggage allowance for wedding outfits.

What days can we choose to be married?
Civil wedding ceremonies can be conducted Monday to Friday, excluding local holidays. Church weddings can be held Monday – Saturday. Blessings, renewal of vows and symbolic weddings can be held 7 days per week. We can also arrange a Christian ceremony which is legally binding at any recognised venue 7 days a week - just ask.

Where will the wedding take place?
Generally, the ceremony will take place in the venue where you are staying. All our venues are near spectacular scenic spots for photos after the ceremony.

For Catholic Church weddings, a church in the area will be selected on the basis that non residents are permitted to get married there. It is usually possible to bring your own priest should you wish to do so, but it is at the discretion of the parish priest of the church involved.

How can we book optional extras?
When you have booked their wedding we will discuss with you optional extras for that area. Prices for extras will vary from venue to venue and are for guidance only. If there is something specific you want please ask and we will do our best to arrange it for you.

What is included in the wedding?
Most of our packages include the ceremony, meal, photographer, flowers for wedding party, co ordination and wedding cake; it depends on the venue and package you choose. All items included in the wedding will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Who will conduct the ceremony?
All legally binding weddings are conducted by a solemniser of marriages whose title varies, for example a Celebrant, Minister, Pastor, Priest or Registrar. Our hand fasting ceremonies are conducted by celebrants who can offer non denominational ceremonies or traditional Celtic ceremonies. These may be lay people or have a spiritual background, it depends on the location.
